Kelly Clarkson's Contract With 19 Group

Many posts ago, I mentioned Kelly Clarkson turning down an invitation to appear on the Australian Version of Idol. That got me wondering about her contract with Idol producers. Has some parts of the contract run out?

I had to go WAY back to 2002 to find any good info. Salon finds out what they can about the contract that Idol contestants sign. The legalese is amazing in some of the contract clauses. A big thing is the $5 million dollars that the contestants are liable for if they give out behind the scenes info about Idol. It's no wonder you don't hear also rans belly-aching about the show.
