Kelly Clarkson Is Built To Last

As a rule, winning American Idol hasn't guaranteed anyone a successful career in music. It's a popularity contest. It's a big expensive version of being named king or queen of the prom. That's not the best analogy, for it to be accurate you'd have to sign a lifelong contract with your highschool prom organizers.

Anyway, people like Ruben Studdard and Anastasia and Clay Aiken have not had their success on the show translate into selling albums and selling concert tickets.

Kelly Clarkson is the exception. She keeps getting more popular and ,more importantly, she is getting better at whay she does. She's a huge concert draw and her album spent over a year on the charts.
